Unacceptable Use Policy

We are happy that you are using the openredis Services but there are some limits as to your actions and the content you can use. This “Unacceptable Use Policy” sets forth some of the things you cannot do. It is incorporated into the Agreement–the Terms of Use–with you. Click here if you want to read that Agreement. This policy uses the definitions of the Agreement.

Please remember that openredis can suspend or terminate your account for violations of this policy. It is your responsibility to keep track of any changes we make in this policy, as we can and will change it from time to time. Those changes will not take place with respect to your use of the openredis Services until you use that service. Once you do, we will take that to mean that you have accepted the changes.

Some Ways You Cannot Use the openredis Services

In addition to the violations described in the Terms, you may not and may not allow any third party, including your End Users, to do the following:

  1. No SPAM: Generate or facilitate unsolicited commercial email (“SPAM”), including but not limited to:

    • sending email in violation of the CAN-SPAM Act or any other applicable anti-spam law;
    • imitating or impersonating another person or his, her or its email address, or creating false accounts for the purpose of sending spam;
    • data mining any web property to find email addresses or other user account information;
    • sending unauthorized mail via open, third-party servers;
    • sending emails to individuals (or other entities) who already requested removal from a mailing list;
    • selling, exchanging or distributing to a third party the email addresses of any person without such person’s knowing and continued consent to such disclosure;
    • and sending unsolicited emails to significant numbers of email addresses belonging to individuals and/or entities with whom you have no preexisting relationship.
  2. Obscene, etc: Send, upload, distribute or disseminate or offer to do the same with respect to any unlawful, defamatory, harassing, abusive, fraudulent, infringing, obscene, or otherwise objectionable content and especially anything harmful to minors.

  3. Trojan Horses: Intentionally distribute viruses, worms, defects, Trojan horses, corrupted files, hoaxes, or any other items of a destructive or deceptive nature;

  4. Violating Other People’s Rights: Illegally transmit another’s intellectual property or other proprietary information without such owner’s or licensor’s permission or otherwise using the openredis Services to violate other rights (such as a right to privacy) or interfering with their use of the openredis Services;

  5. Unethical Business, etc: Use the openredis Services in connection with unethical or illegal practices such as a “pyramid” scheme, illegal peer-to-peer file sharing, selling, trading, reselling or otherwise exploiting the openredis Services for any unauthorized commercial purpose or promoting or encouraging illegal activity;

  6. Altering or Misusing the openredis Services: Using the openredis Services such that it is altered, including attempts to: modify, adapt, translate, or reverse engineer any portion of the openredis Services; remove any copyright, trademark or other proprietary rights notices contained in or on the openredis Services; reformat or frame any portion of the web pages that are part of the openredis Services' administration display; display any Content on the openredis Services that contains any hate-related or violent content or contains any other material, products or services that violate or encourage conduct that would violate any criminal laws, any other applicable laws, or any third party rights; modify the openredis logo; or use the openredis Services, or any interfaces provided with the Service, to access openredis in a manner that violates the Agreement or other terms and conditions for use of such product.

  7. Traffic: Starting on November 24, 2012, all outbound and inbound traffic to openredis instances shall be limited to all the data centers of Amazon Web Services.

    Trying to access it outside AWS will be blocked automatically by firewall.

Some Content You are Prohibited from Using or Displaying

The Content displayed and/or moving through your Application(s) or other website utilizing the openredis Services shall not contain any of the following types of content:

  1. Content that infringes a third party’s rights (e.g., copyright) according to applicable law;
  2. Excessively profane content;
  3. Hate-related or violent content;
  4. Content advocating racial or ethnic intolerance;
  5. Content intended to advocate or advance computer hacking or cracking;
  6. Gambling;
  7. Other illegal activity, including without limitation illegal export of controlled substances or illegal software;
  8. Drug paraphernalia;
  9. Phishing;
  10. Malicious content;
  11. Other material, products or services that violate or encourage conduct that would violate any criminal laws, any other applicable laws, or any third-party rights.
